Three Week Itinerary
Pre-program: Students are given articles to read and answer preliminary questions.
Week 1:
90-120 minutes in the classroom. (Can be split into two 50-minute sessions).

Introduction to research topics and review of the pre-program assignment.

Students are guided through asking scientific questions and split into groups.

Groups design experiments to test their question(s). All groups will leave the first session with a research question, hypothesis, materials lists, and experimental methods.
Week 2:
Full day in the field

Students collect data in their groups at the field site.

Instructors mentor students through this data collection and project implementation.
Week 3:
90-120 minutes in the classroom. (Can be split into two 50-minute sessions).

Students are given a brief introduction to data management and analysis, writing a scientific paper and creating scientific presentations

Students graph their data and create a presentation. Groups will work together to refine their projects for homework..
